Mother’s Day Design Contest

Mothers model winning designs.jpg On Thursday, May 8th, T.Q. Diamonds held our 2nd annual Mother’s Day Pendant contest at Sunset Ridge Elementary School.  Fifth grade students in Mrs. Sage’s art classes were asked to design a pendant for their mother.  One winner was selected from each class, based on the design’s elegance, creativity, and use of material.  The winner’s design was then produced by our goldsmith at T.Q. Diamonds and presented to the students and their mothers in a special ceremony.  We look forward to seeing the designs from 2009’s contestants!

Sunset Ridge Elementary School (Middleton, Wisconsin)

Peter Hutchinson, a student in Mr. Pauls’ class, created a star-shaped pendant with a stone on each point (two citrines, a lapis lazuli, garnet, and peridot).  The middle of the star holds a cubic zirconia.

Sewon Joo, a student in Mrs. Webber’s class, created a spiral pendant with an oval garnet center.  The chain was multi-strand wires studded with garnets and citrines.

Luisa Lara, a student in Mr. Fisher’s class, created a rectangular pendant with the initial ‘M’ engraved in the center.  There are three cubic zirconias on the top and the bottom of the pendant.

Kyle Liegel, a student in Mrs. Masnica’s class, crafted a triangular pendant with a lapis lazuli center, flanked by three pearls.  The three-strand wire necklace was adorned with pearls.

Jake Schraith, a student in Mrs. Gassner’s class, created a reverse s-shaped pendant with a peridot and an amethyst set in each of the curves.
