The Process

The Process to Create TrewTungsten^® Permanently Polished^® Bands

The two biggest challenges to create these rings were shaping and finishing the super hard metal as well as devising a method to permanently bond bands of gold and platinum inside the Tungsten Carbide host ring.

The following is a simplified version of how the process works; Tungsten is processed with carbon and other elements and ground to a powder. The mixed powder is compressed into high pressure dies to form a ring blank The blank is sintered (fired) in an oxygen free furnace at over 2,400 degrees F, resulting in a solid Tungsten Carbide ring blank of extreme hardness. The rough blank goes through a 30 stage precision grinding process using exclusively diamond embedded grinding tools held in specially designed machinery. Versions containing platinum or gold inlaid sections are made by grinding a groove into the center of the hard metal ring and using our exclusive patented process to fuse the precious metal within the groove. The finishing process is unique in that diamond polishing compounds are used by skilled craftspeople and equipment to create a brilliant polish and luster never before achieved in the industry.

 

 

 

 

Tungsten is processed with carbon and ground to a powder.

The ring is fired in an oxygen free oven at 2400 degree Fahrenheitt.  The result is a solid metal ring with extreme hardness and toughness.

 

 

 

 

 The rough ring goes through a complex 30 step grinding and polishing process using diamond tools.

 

 

 

 

 

  The platinum or gold is fused into the center groove using an exclusive patented process perfected by Trent West.

Your band has been meticulously crafted utilizing the finest materials and manufactured to the exacting specifications. TrewTungsten^®  Bands are warranted against manufacturer's defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 36 months from the original date of purchase.

All TrewTungsten^®  Bands are made with a special hypoallergenic formulation of Tungsten Carbide, the hardest composite metal on earth.  With a hardness equal to granite rock, it is many times harder than steel or titanium, but these rings are not scratchproof or indestructible.  If treated with care customarily afforded to fine jewelry, these bands will look polished and be virtually maintenance free for years.  Attractive textures in the softer gold or platinum inlaid sections occur normally in time and require no further maintenance.  Polishing of the precious metal inlay sections (if applicable) is not recommended.  If desired, a re-finishing service is offer by Trent west Designs, just contact T.Q. Diamonds.

TrewTungsten^® bands have a free lifetime size exchange policy to enable you to purchase them with confidence. Due to their extreme hardness, these bands may not be stretched or sized. Limit: One free size exchange for the original customer. 

Laser Engraving

Each TrewTungsten^® Permanently Polished^®  Band is laser engraved inside the band with important information about its metal content. (1) The TrewTungsten^®  registered trademark logo. (2) WC, the scientific symbol for Tungsten Carbide. (3) The precious metal inlay content symbol 18k gold, 22k gold or Platinum, if applicable.  (4) The unique Serial number of your band.
