Atomic timekeeping is designed to pick up the time calibration signal transmitted in Germany (Mainflingen), England (Rugby), and the United States (Fort Collins) and the time calibration signals transmitted in Japan. It will receive the time calibration signal automatically from the applicable transmitter (in the middle of the night) and update its settings accordingly.
The Atomic feature will receive the time calibration signal automatically up to six times a day. When any auto receive is successful, the remaining auto receive operations are not performed.
Signal reception is normally better at night than during the day.

You don't have to worry about changing your battery again with Pathfinder's solar technology. The battery is automatically charged by light, either direct from the sun or from light sources inside. And it keeps that charge for the life of the watch. Watches with this feature have a solar cell and a special rechargeable battery (secondary battery) that is charged by the electrical power produced by the solar cell.
After a full charge, timekeeping remains enabled for up to five months.
Storing the watch for long periods in an area where there is no light can cause the rechargeable battery to run down. When stored in a dark place, the power saving function will enter a sleep mode to conserve power and energy.

During measurement, the watch displays an angle value, a direction indicator, and four direction pointers, which change dynamically when the watch is moved. After measurement is complete, these measurements are frozen in accordance with the last measurement.

The Altimeter uses a pressure sensor to detect current air pressure, which is then used to estimate the current altitude based on ISA (International Standard Atmosphere) preset values. You can also specify a reference altitude, which the watch will use to calculate your current altitude based on the value you specify.
Altitude is displayed in units of 5 meters (20 feet)
The measurement range is -700 to 10,000 meters (-2,300 to 32,800 feet).
You can use the historical record to keep track of high altitude, low altitude, total ascent and total decent values.

Barometric pressure indicates changes in the atmosphere. By monitoring these changes you can predict the weather with reasonable accuracy. Pathfinder watches take barometric pressure readings every two hours. Measurement results are used to produce a barometric pressure graph and differential pointer readings.
In some areas, barometric pressure is expressed in millibars (mb) instead of hector-pascals (hPa). It really makes no difference, because 1hPa = 1mb.
The Barometer Feature is available on all Pathfinder and Sea Pathfinder watches except SPF100S-1V.
A built-in thermometer displays and checks the temperature every 5 minutes. The display can be converted from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Temperature ranges are from -10 to 60C (14 to 140F). The thermometer may also be used underwater, for example to test the temperature of a river or stream.
Temperature measurements are affected by your body temperature (while you are wearing the watch), direct sunlight, and moisture.
To achieve a more accurate temperature measurement, remove the watch from your wrist, place it in a well-ventilated location out of direct sunlight, and wipe all moisture from the case.
Tides are the periodic rise and fall of the water of oceans, seas, bays and other bodies of water caused mainly by the gravitational interactions between the Earth, Moon and Sun. Tides rise and fall about every six hours. The tide graph indicates tidal movement based on the Moon's transit over the meridian and the lunitidal interval.
Theoretically, high tide is the Moon's transit over the meridian and the low tide is about six hours later. Actual high tide occurs somewhat later, due to factors such as viscosity, friction, and underwater typography.
The moon goes through a regular 29.53-day cycle during which it appears to wax and wane due to how the sun illuminates the moon and the relative positioning of the Earth, Sun and Moon
The watch face has an EL (electro-luminescent) panel that causes the entire display to glow for easy reading in the dark. The watch's auto light switch illuminates the display automatically when you angle the watch towards your face. The Auto Light operates only when available light is below a certain level. It does not illuminate the display under the bright light.
